Jim Hager, 66, Is Dead. Performed With Jon, Twin on "Hee Haw"

Jim Hager, one of the Hager twins and star of the tv show Hee Haw died Thursday May 1,2008 in Nashville. He was 66.

Hager was at a coffee shop when he collapsed Thursday said Sam Lovullo the shows producer said. He was given the news by Jon Hager, the surviving twin. Vanderbuild University Medical Center gave no details on the cause of death.

Born in Chicago in 1942, the twins began working with Buck Owens and used his connection as co-host of Hee Haw to become longtime cast members of the show. Lovullo said he was looking for male talent at the time to match the young, attractive women on the show.

"Jim was a delightful, funny loyal friend," said longtime "Hee Haw" cast member Lulu Roman, who also lives in Nashville. "He will be missed greatly as one of my true friends"

From the Hager twins rise to stardom in 1969, they released several Capitol albums Their biggest Cashbox single hit was "Goin' Home to Your Mother peaking at # 42 in 1970.
